News
There was a long time no news on Rare-Reptiles, but that didn't mean we haven't done anything... :-) We had a small import from Egypt, with some very nice rare species and ofcourse we updated the breeding '07 list. As you can see when you click the button at the left side. For our own collection we bought some very nice CB animals, as you will find in the collection. Unfortunataly also animals died in our collection, that brings us to the new subject; Wanted. At the moment we have some incomplete groups or couples.

  • For most people the Breeding Season already started, just as it is started for us. So we had already some new eggs of Conophis lineatus, second time this year. So let's hope that they are all fertilised this time. The first clugs there was only 1 egg good. But it didn't hatched.
  • I didn't expect to see this when I wanted to feed them.... Picture 1 & Picture 2 So we learn another lesson, Trimeresurus hageni can be kannabals.
  • Some nice animals from which I expect this year eggs; Philodryas psammophidea (first time), a lot of Oxyrhopus r. inaequifasciatus, maby Leiohetrodon madagascariensis and Philodryas aestivus. And of course alot of others. You can follow that at Breedinglist 2007

February 12th, 2007

  • If you take a look in Breeding '07 you see that we have a second clutch of Trimeresurus hageni eggs, even more eggs then the first clutch; 24 eggs.
  • We updated the Saleslist of the Non venomous and Venomous. Now you can also see some pictures of these fantastic animals.
  • At you left you see a NEW button; Import. It must give you an idea of what we have imported the last few years.

  • Yes, I had some time today to update the website :-) So I put some pictures at it of animals we bought the last few months, here you can find pictures of Thamnodynastes, Ophiophagus and new pictures in the Sales part of the site. (Which you can find at the left side of the page.)
  • At the right side beneath you can see I put a little menu of the fairs for reptiles in Holland and Germany for this year. When you click on the date/location you will be directed to the website of the organisation of that fair.
  • At January the 29th we had 18 eggs of Trimeresurus hageni, so that will be Captive hatched youngs (if they will hatch anyway...). Five of them will be sold for study at the University of Leiden, NL. We did this last year for allready ( if I count correct ) 8 species.

  • Last Wednesday arrived our import from Malaysia, with not to many problems we got it home. After a long time unpacking we can tell that we have very nice animals. You can find the stock at the left site of the page, where you can click on the buttons for Frogs, Lizards, non venomous snakes or Venomous snakes. If you want more information, you can send an email to Sales. We will be the January 26th on the fair in Almere, NL.

  • Today we have the first eggs for this year!! No, not from the African house snakes or the Oxyrhopus-chickens, but we have got 8 very nice Conophis lineatus eggs!! First time we have eggs of them. Last week I didn't notice that the lady was "fat", so last Friday I was feeding and I was surprised by her size. And she even didn't want to eat and shedding was also a week of 3 back. So you can understand I was really surprises by the very nice eggs, today.. They all had the same size, 3 x 1,5 cm. Now, let's see what will happen in the next two months ( I hate waiting...).
  • I also forgot to mansion, last update, that I bought an adult couple of Leiohetrodon madagascariensis in Houten, NL. They had laid eggs before, so I trust that they will do that again this year.

Happy New Year
Best wishes to you all for 2007!!!!

  • We hope that 2007 will bring us more luck, than we had in 2006.....

Here are some highlights of 2006
    - The collection did grow again with some very nice animals you can find in the galleries, but we also lost some very nice animals by unknown reasons.
    - We had problems with some import.
    - We did some trips to Malaysia, Bali, Slovakia, Prague and Budapest.
    - The number of eggs we had in 2006 was not bad; we only hope that 2007 will double the numbers.
    - The total number of visitors at Rare-Reptiles.com was in 2005 about 9000, in 2006 there where about 30.000 visitors. So we can not complain about that. Even that updates where very little. We will do something about that (Marco is getting fast track lessons about HTML)
